COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho—The U.S. Forest Service warned people heading to Canfield Mountain about an aggressive bear Thursday night.

The U.S. Forest Service said the public should avoid the upper parking area and trails systems on the mountain.

An aggressive sow bear with cubs had been reported in the area.

The U.S. Forest service said that confrontations with bears are rare, but mother bears are extremely dangerous.

Reports said U.S. Forest Service is working with Idaho Fish and Game to assess the situation.
