Forty thousand KitchenAid electric kettles are being recall because of a burn hazard.
Whirlpool is issuing the recall because of 79 reports of the handles separating from the kettle including three reports of minor burn injuries.
The recall involves KitchenAid 1.7 liter electric kettles that were sold in a variety of colors at Bed Bath & Beyond, Dillard's, Amazon.com, Fry’s Electronics, Kitchen Kaboodle, Kohl’s, Navy Exchange, Target, Williams Sonoma, and home appliance and retail stores nationwide.
The kettles were sold between September 2013 and February 2018, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Consumers should check for the following model numbers and contact Repair.Whirlpool.com for a free replacement: KEK1722SX (Stainless), KEK1722ER (Red), KEK1722OB (Black), KEK1722WH (White), KEK1722QG (Liquid Graphite), KEK1722CS (Cocoa Silver), RKEK1722SX (Stainless), RKEK1722ER (Red), RKEK1722OB (Black), RKEK1722WH (White), RKEK1722QG (Liquid) and RKEK1722CS (Cocoa Silver).
