PULLMAN, Wash --- The manager of the Pullman Subway won the 2017 Subway Sub Jammers Trophy and received the title of fastest Sandwich Artist in the world.
Sara Tiegs competed against 49 Sandwich Artists from seven countries in the contest.
“After competing in nine competitions, it is rewarding to have finally won. I could not have done it without the support of the franchise owners Cam and Jo Brinkman, my amazing staff and the Pullman community,” said Tiegs.
Subway Sub Jammers are judged on speed, accuracy and sandwich appearance. They compete by making and bagging the brand’s most popular sandwich, the foot-long turkey breast with cheese and fresh veggies.
Tiegs was fifth and twelfth in 2016 and 2015 respectively, but won the championship this year. She won $3,000 and made the sandwich in 44.1 seconds. Tiegs beat Lisa Mulligan from Florida, who made her sandwich in 52 seconds, and Denise Lomas from Arizona, who finished her sandwich in 54.7 seconds.
“Our Sandwich Artists are the most hard working, committed people in our business, and this description fits Sara perfectly. Sara is the best! She has always gone above and beyond with our customers and has been dedicated to providing clean, friendly and efficient service. It is great that she was able to prove she is one of the best in the world,” said the co-owner of the Pullman Subway, Cam Brinkman.
