SPOKANE, Wash.—Mountain biking is a great way to get out onto the trails and enjoy the outdoors.
Some of those steep and rugged bike paths can be intimidating for a beginner.
KREM 2 asked the experts at The Bike Hub for some tips and the essential gear for beginners.
The first step may seem obvious, but that is to get an entry level mountain bike. The crew from The Bike Hub explained that that is a bike that will do everything. This is a bike with better shock absorbing features and a better braking system.
After the actual mountain bike, the most essential piece of gear is a helmet. We spoke with a few mountain bikers who said wearing a helmet has saved them from severe injuries, and possible even death when they wiped out on the trails.
Experts also recommend outfitting properly. That includes biking shorts, gloves, and tech-tees to wither keep you warm, or cool.
It’s also important to outfit your bike. To play it safe, experts said having a bell and a tool kit for emergencies on your bike is never a bad idea.
