COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho --- It’s a time-honored tradition at the Coeur d’Alene Resort for kids (and some indulgent adults) at the Dockside Restaurant: The Gooey.
Now there is a new flavor that beat out a slew of other options to be permanently added to the menu.
The Gooey Monster is officially joining the menu. Resort officials said in a release that guests submitted their own ideas for the newest gooey concoction and their culinary team taste-tested them to pick the top three. During the month of March, the restaurant showcased the three flavors and added the one with the most orders.
The winning creation was submitted by a 15-year-old who goes to Lake City High School, Marlee Lambert. She said in a release from the resort that she loves Dockside and regularly eats there with her friends.
“I thought it would be fun to show my personal ideas with my Gooey,” Lambert said. “I love cookie dough and my family loves cookies ‘n cream so I decided to include those.”
The Gooey has been around for 30 years and Dockside sells about 5,000 of them a month.
The resort teams said their culinary team came up with the dessert to match “Duane Hagadone’s vision for something big and glorious.”
The newest gooey, “The Gooey Monster” features cookies ‘n’ cream ice cream, vanilla ice cream, cookie dough, cookie chunks, hot fudge, and a Cookie Monster inspired cookie, topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips.
